Livelihood/ชีวิตความเป็นอยู่
The community of Sakae Krang raft houses lives on the Sakae Krang River and has resided there for many years. Some have lived here for over 20 years. People travel mainly by boat, and numerous raft houses are lined along the river. Most of them are wooden rafts with relatively low roofs to reduce wind resistance. These raft houses have house numbers and electricity just like houses on land, and none are enclosed by fences, although bamboo poles floating in the water mark their territories. Nearly every house keeps dogs to serve as a warning when someone approaches the raft. Living on the Sakae Krang River means that almost every aspect of life depends on this river. The water from the river is used for daily needs such as bathing, washing clothes and utensils, and for cooking.
ชาวชุมชนแพสะแกกรัง จะอาศัยอยู่บนแม่น้ำสะแกกรัง และใช้วิตอยู่ที่นี่ บางราย ใช้ชีวิตมามากกว่า 20 ปี ผู้คนจะเดินทางไปไหนมาไหนด้วยเรือ และในแม่น้ำนี้ก็มีบ้านเรือนแพอยู่ทอดเป็นแนวยาวมากมาย ส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นแพไม้ หลังคาไม่สูงมากนัก เพื่อป้องกันการต้านลม มีเลขที่บ้าน มีไฟฟ้า เหมือนบ้านบนบก และทุกแพไม่มีรั้วรอบขอบชิด ถึงแม้จะมีการแสดงอาณาเขตจากไม้ไผ่ที่ลอยอยู่ในน้ำ ดังนั้นเกือบทุกหลังจะเลี้ยงหมาเอาไว้ เพื่อเป็นสัญญาณเตือนภัยเมื่อมีคนเข้ามาใกล้แพ การใช้ชีวิตส่วนใหญ่อยู่ในแม่น้ำสะแกกรังจึงทำให้ เกือบทุกกิจกรรมของชาวแพต้องพึ่งพาแม่น้ำสายนี้อย่างหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้ น้ำในแม่น้ำสะแกกรังถูกนำมาใช้ประโยชน์ทั้งการอุปโภค เช่น น้ำอาบ ซักล้างเสื้อผ้าและภาชนะ หรือการบริโภคในการหุงหาอาหาร
