In addition to fish farming as their main occupation, some raft dwellers also have jobs on land like regular city folk. The jobs they engage in include raising fish for sale, providing boat tours for tourists to explore the river, sun-drying fish for sale, fishing in the river, and smoking fish.
ชาวแพบางส่วนนอกจากจะเลี้ยงปลาเป็นอาชีพหลักแล้ว ยังมีอาชีพอยู่บนบกเหมือนชาวเมืองทั่วไป อาชีพที่ชาวแพทำ เช่น เลี้ยงปลาเพื่อขาย บริการพานักท่องเที่ยวชมแม่น้ำด้วยเรือ ตากปลาแดดเดียวขาย หาปลาในแม่น้ำ ปลาย่างรมควัน เป็นต้น
